Benefiting from the lightweight trend of new energy vehicles and the growth in demand for high-end equipment manufacturing, the market size of China's hot-rolled pickled coil industry exceeded 32 million tons in 2025, an increase of 5.2% over the previous year. Among them, the demand for hot-rolled pickled coils in the new energy vehicle field reached 4.8 million tons, accounting for 9.4% of the total industrial output, becoming the largest growth pole. The consumption per pure electric vehicle is 30%-40% higher than that of traditional fuel vehicles, mainly used in core components such as body structural parts and battery trays.
In terms of product structure, the high-end trend is obvious. The proportion of low-alloy high-strength steel has increased to 27.3%, with output exceeding 4.3 million tons; mass production of 780MPa grade dual-phase steel has been realized, and breakthroughs have been made in the R&D of 1200MPa grade martensitic steel. Technological processes are continuously optimized. The new turbulent pickling technology has increased the production line speed to 350m/min and reduced acid consumption by 25%; the thickness tolerance of ultra-flat products is controlled within ±0.03mm, meeting the requirements of precision stamping.

In terms of regional distribution, East China accounts for 35% of the total consumption. The automobile industry clusters in Jiangsu, Shandong and Zhejiang have driven the annual demand for high-strength pickled plates to exceed 8.5 million tons; South China accounts for 28% of consumption, and the home appliance manufacturing industry in Guangdong consumes more than 3 million tons of thin-gauge pickled plates annually. In the future, with the continuous growth of new energy vehicle production and sales and the expansion of emerging fields such as hydrogen energy storage and transportation equipment, the market size of hot-rolled pickled coils is expected to exceed 45 million tons by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate maintained in the range of 4.5%-5%.
